Day 6: "The Stand"

In 2008 (yes, I looked it up), Hillsong United released an album. One of the songs from that album is called "The Stand". It builds beautifully and the lyrics are honest. The line of the song that I think is the most important says "What could I say, what could I do, but offer this heart, oh God, completely to you?" When we really see all that God has done for us, do we have any other option? There's nothing else we can do but offer our whole life to the One who made us and loves us more than we'll ever be able to fathom.

"The Stand" acknowledges what Christ has done for us because of His love for us, and then it responds with surrender. With awe. With determination for how our lives should look after we've encountered the Living God. It's both an admission and a challenge. When you've seen God, there's no other or better response than to offer your heart to Him. Completely.

Here are today's lyrics:

You stood before creation
Eternity in your hand
You spoke the earth into motion
My soul now to stand

You stood before my failure
And carried the cross for my shame
My sin weighed upon your shoulders
My soul now to stand

So what could I say?
And what could I do?
But offer this heart, Oh God
Completely to you

So I'll walk upon salvation
Your spirit alive in me
This life to declare your promise
My soul now to stand

So what could I say?
And what could I do?
But offer this heart, Oh God
Completely to you

I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the one who gave it all
I'll stand
My soul Lord to you surrendered
All I am is yours
