Day 21: "Even If (The Healing Doesn't Come)"

It's really easy to say we trust God, but it is not so easy to actually do it. I may be easy to trust Him when everything is going our way or at least when nothing bad is happening...but we also tend to forget God when everything is good. It's in the hard times that we remember to talk to God, but it's those times that make it harder to trust Him too. That's when our faith really shows. If things are not perfect, we should still believe and declare that God is still good. His goodness is not dependent on our circumstances. Our trust should not be dependent on our circumstances either. The thing about God is...He's WAY smarter than us. He knows how it's all going to work out even when it seems like we're never going to make it. He not only knows what's going on, but He's going to make all of the things work together for our good and His glory. Even when it doesn't look good from our perspective, it can still work for our good when God is in control. And, guess what. God is always in control.

Day 4: "Because He Lives"

When I was in college, we had to learn and recite some of the creeds of the church in some of my classes. Out of all the things I learned and the authors I read while I was there, the creeds were probably my favorite part. I think it's very important to be able to articulate what we believe...to lay it out in words. It helps us get our heads around it a little bit and really think about what we believe and what it means.

There are a few songs out right now that have creed-like lyrics. One of those is Matt Maher's "Because He Lives". This song plays off of a hymn by the same name, but it puts the words in a creed-like format that I really enjoy. This is another song that talks about the resurrection. It truly makes all the difference. Because He lives, we can live. We can overcome the enemy and our struggles. We don't have to be afraid. All because He lives.
